Hey Maha , I love you so much!!! I majored in English Linguistics in Kuwait and I’ve lived in Maryland for a pretty big portion of my life to continue my medical treatments at Johns Hopkins Hospital . I always wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon when I grow up but Allah had other plans! Watching your vlog since the beginning of your journey , made me feel like I’m living the dream somehow!!😭😭❤️ please don’t stop vlogging!!!❤❤❤❤

Its so nice to hear from you 🥹 I am one of your youtube family member since maybe the first video. We are at same year and I understand you fully sis! I’m a resident in Turkiye and systems are sooo different but the feeling is same. I’m also the only doctor of the night and whatever comes in that door, its my patient! Sometimes trauma, sometimes traffic accident, and one time labour 😅 When the shift ends Im like “Wow how do they give me that much responsibility, Im a doctor for only 6 months!” And yeah youre right, we get in the lowest point before going up. I dreamed about patients for months and felt like I was not enough. Anybody struggiling about being a doctor out there, it does get better! ❤

EM PGY3. I feel every aspect of your video. The highs and lows are insane in residency. Sometimes to the point I've felt unhinged with how many emotions I can experience in a day. It can be incredibly hard to push through, and you're right, it's a systems thing. Instead of residents not talking about it, I think it's important that we do. There's more compassion we can give when we know we aren't alone in our experience, and hopefully once it's all over, we can remember these moments to empathize, encourage, and try and find ways to make training (even slightly) better for the residents after us.

You can't be a good doctor unless you go through literal hell. I remember my lowest point in intern was on my second ICU rotation. I've never been that low emotionally in my life besides maybe during my PhD. Yet, I learned the most valuable lesson: you are patient number one. If you can't heal yourself or know when to get help, you can't do that for anyone else. It's a lesson that changed everything for me.

You’re back! I just started PGY3 and remember watching your videos when I was applying to med school. Congratulations on finishing! I hope attendinghood brings you joy and blessings :)

Saw this video pop up, and before opening it, I had to go back to your first video, which was made nearly 7 years ago. Listening to you tell us you quit your job, and how you were starting a new daunting adventure of what is medical school, and seeing you here, now, done with residency is truly a wonderful thing to see Maha. I've never been so proud of a stranger(technically online buddy😃). That is what real growth looks like. I never comment on yt but this here feels like a personal accomplishment. Saw your videos 2 years back and this just made me smile watching today. I’m currently on med school two waitlists for this cycle, with one month remaining i’m trying my best to stay positive and hoping and praying it works out in my favor.

I don't know how many times I got tears in my eyes while watching this vlog. I started watching your videos back when I was preparing for MCAT, and now, after 4 months, I'll be taking my 4th year med school exams, Inshallah!! Time really flies

Oh my god Maha I havent even finished the video yet but just finished my Step 1 dedicated and I must have watched your Step 1 vlog at least a couple dozen times - you have no idea how much comfort it brought me at some of the lowest moments in my life, I looked up to you so much during my dedicated and kept thinking "If she can get through it and succeed so can I".
